The mudroom/laundry had been remodeled in the 1990s and felt disconnected from the rest of the home. It was tight, inefficient, and lacking the storage desperately needed for Minnesota winters. The space needed a full rethink: better organization, better flow, and finishes that matched the charm and quality of the main level.
Our clients wanted this space to work hard without losing any softness, so the design centered on a palette of warm wood tones, soft blue cabinetry, and clean quartz counters that kept the room feeling calm and collected. Custom storage was essential, so we added tall cabinets for gear and cleaning supplies, deep drawers for laundry essentials, and open shelves that made the room feel lived-in instead of cluttered.
For the laundry zone, the vision was clarity and ease: enough counter space to fold, a dedicated rod for hanging clothes, and appliances tucked into a layout that felt open rather than tight. The built-in desk serves as a quiet workspace with brass hardware, warm lighting, and a clear view of the entire room, turning a utility space into something genuinely welcoming and truly useful for everyday life.
