This 1950s bathroom was dark, cramped, and overdue for a refresh. The layout technically worked, but the space felt heavy and underlit, with a small vanity, poor storage, and outdated finishes. Our goal was to brighten the room, bring in more personality, and upgrade the layout just enough to make everyday use feel easier all while keeping the charm of a midcentury home.
Our client dreamed of a kitchen that felt open, full of light, and as fun and colorful as her personality. Introducing a pink backsplash became the color moment she’d always imagined, paired with light cabinetry to keep everything airy and bright.
In the dining room, she pictured a cozier, more grounded backdrop: wallpaper with warmth, mid-century lighting, and a mood that complemented the kitchen without competing with it. Opening the two rooms to each other let the palettes connect, while the kitchen’s patterned flooring, brass details, and playful mix of textures carried her love of color and cheer throughout the space.
