Before the remodel, this basement was a completely unfinished shell with cold floors, exposed framing, and no real sense of purpose. The homeowners wanted to finally turn it into a space they could use every day, but the biggest challenge was creating a design that felt elevated, while still giving them a place to enjoy sports and TV. We needed to solve for layout, storage, zoning, and overall vibe – balancing function for the whole family with a look that felt collected, organic, and beautifully designed.
Our client wanted this basement to feel like a place where her husband could truly unwind – watch the game, display a couple of Vikings jerseys, and have his own corner of the house – without losing the softer, organic aesthetic she loved. The vision was a space that blended both worlds: grounded and warm, but never dark or overly masculine.
We leaned into a palette of soft plaster walls, warm wood tones, and earthy textures, balancing them with a bold black slat wall that framed the TV and memorabilia without overwhelming the room. The bar was designed to feel intentional, with stone, brass details, and cabinetry that matched the home’s overall softness. She wanted a living room that could hold family movie nights just as easily as Sunday football. The goal was simple: create a space that felt like theirs.
