This fireplace makeover was all about bringing more life, color, and personality into a space our clients use every single day. They spend so much time in their living room reading and hanging out that they wanted the fireplace to feel like a true reflection of their energy and style. It wasn’t about fixing something “wrong,” but about creating a focal point that felt joyful, warm, and entirely theirs.
For this fireplace, the vision was to build something artful and expressive…something that could hold its own in a room filled with books, stories, and everyday moments. We carried over the fish-scale tile shape from the bathroom but shifted the palette completely. Burnt sugar, amber, and sunstone tones were layered together to create a warm, glowing pattern that feels almost like movement across the surface.
The shape brings a playful softness, and the color mix adds richness and depth without feeling heavy. It’s bold but grounded and still at home in a midcentury house.
