Basement Bathroom Remodel

Saint Paul, Minnesota
Built in 1928
Full Home Remodel + Addition

The original home didn’t include a basement bathroom, but adding one was essential for how families live today. This new 3/4 bath was designed alongside a family room and additional basement bonus guest room (or office!) to be a space guests and family members could use comfortably. Adding a bathroom in the basement makes the whole home more livable, and we wanted it to feel like a natural extension of the house rather than an afterthought.

Our Client's Vision

Basement Bathroom Color Palette

Basement Bathroom Mood Board

The vision for this basement bathroom was to create something that felt intentional and full of personality – not just a basic add-on. We brought in large Mercury Mosaics hexagon tiles as a nod to the antique floral hex patterns found throughout older Twin Cities homes. We went with a blue-and-white palette to tie the room back to the rest of the house, and added an arched shower door that gives the space a soft architectural moment.

The Moonstone Effect

The final result is a basement bathroom that feels connected to the home’s style while giving the lower level a needed layer of comfort and function.

Added a brand-new ¾ basement bathroom to support modern family living

Installed Mercury Mosaics hexagon floor tile as a nod to historic Twin Cities hex patterns

Added classic subway tile in the shower for a clean, timeless backdrop

Kept the walls white to make the smaller space feel open and bright

Built an arched shower opening to echo the home’s other architectural details
