As part of the two-level addition, the sunroom was designed to be a bright, easygoing space connected to the new deck outside. The original home didn’t have a true spot for gathering that wasn’t tied to the main living room, so this new room became a chance to add light, comfort, and another place for the family to spend time together.
The sunroom was part of a new two-level addition, created to give the family a second living space filled with light and connection. The original home didn’t have a spot for gathering that wasn’t tied to the main living room, and they dreamed of a place that felt calm, open, and easy to be in. This new room became the answer – a flexible retreat for reading, playtime for the kids, plants, and slow Saturday mornings, all with a natural link to the new deck outside.
The design direction for the sunroom centered on creating a space that felt naturally calm and deeply connected to the outdoors. We chose soft, warm neutrals so the ever-changing light could be the star of the room, and we wrapped the space in windows to frame the trees and sky like artwork. A simple, spacious layout kept the room flexible – open enough for kids to spread out with games, yet refined enough for quiet reading or morning coffee. The wide patio door was chosen to extend that feeling of openness, creating an easy flow to the new deck and letting fresh air become part of the experience. Every choice was made to support a room that feels grounded, sunlit, and welcoming in every season.
