This room originally served as a small powder bath: helpful, but not enough for how the family wanted to use their lower level. To make the basement truly livable, we reworked the layout so we could add a full shower and make it more useful. The update transformed the space from a simple convenience into a bathroom that actually supports how the family lives downstairs.
The goal was to create a bathroom that felt bright, uplifting, and far from the typical “basement bath.” The design centered on elements that brought both softness and polish: light blue vertical tile for a wash of gentle color, warm brass Kohler fixtures to add warmth and shine, and marble hexagon floors for quiet pattern and a touch of luxury underfoot. The palette was intentionally light and airy to counterbalance the lower-level location, while each material was chosen to make the room feel like a natural extension of the home – not an afterthought.
