The original kitchen at Rock Garden was tucked away from the rest of the main level, with limited storage and hardly any workable counter space. To make it support a family that cooks and gathers daily, we opened the room to the dining and living areas by removing walls and adding a new structural beam. The new layout brings clarity and connection, giving the kitchen a true place at the center of the home.
Our clients wanted a kitchen that felt bright and natural. Think: a place that brought the outdoors in and reflected their love for nature and midcentury design. The green cabinetry painted with Sherwin-Williams Rock Garden was a dream choice from the start, and ultimately the inspiration behind the name of the entire project.
We layered in zellige tile for texture and warmth, selected walnut-toned details to honor the home’s midcentury roots, and centered the space with a large, inviting island. Midcentury-inspired pendants added just enough style to make the room feel fresh without overwhelming the simplicity they loved.
The goal was a kitchen that felt connected, calming, and full of life — a space where cooking and community could finally happen side by side.
